TIPS FOR LOADING YOUR CUBE

Before You Move In

  1. Create an inventory of what items are being packed. (example: photographs, written, or video tape).
  2. Loose small items should be packed into larger container or boxes.
  3. Label each box or container itemizing all contents inside them.
  4. All boxes and containers should be closed and secured.
  5. Keep boxes or container light enough for you to handle.
  6. Bubble or Paper Wrap all items that may break from shifting.
  7. Review what items cannot be stored in a CUBE (See Prohibited list below).

Moving Into a Cube

  1. Tightly pack each CUBE as shifting may occur.
  2. Load heavier items first into the container creating a stable base for lighter items to be put on top.
  3. Make sure to evenly distribute the weight of your CUBE, not having all the weight focused on one side.
  4. Keep storage keys and combination in a safe place you will remember.
  5. Do not exceed the weight capacity for each cube (2000 pounds).
  6. Secure each cube with reliable padlock when unattended or when packing is complete.

Prohibited Items

  1. Aerosol cans.
  2. Pharmaceuticals.
  3. Flammables.
  4. Live plants and animals.
  5. Perishable goods.
  6. Jewelry and gems.
  7. Controlled substances.
  8. Firearms and ammunition.
  9. Goods with high sentimental value.
  10. Fragile goods.
  11. Valuable documents.
  12. Antiques.
  13. Home Keys.
  14. Cash.
  15. Checkbooks.
  16. Vehicle Titles.
  17. Certificates, Stocks and Deeds.
  18. Passports.
  19. Or any other substance and materials whose storage, use, or presence are prohibited and regulated under state, federal, and local laws.

General

  1. Inventory the items you put into the ZipCube.
  2. If loading more than one ZipCube, note the unique cube number and corresponding contents.
  3. Load heavier items on the bottom, and lighter items on top.
  4. Use blankets or padding to protect furniture.
  5. Label boxes on all four sides.
  6. Load items you might access while in storage near the door of the cube.
  7. Do not load dangerous goods, flammables, or prohibited items.
  8. Do not store any food items, liquids, live plants or animals.
  9. Consider Stored Property Insurance.

Furniture

  1. Disassemble large items such as tables and bed frames to save space.
  2. Put hardware in plastic bags and tape to furniture.
  3. Load soft and light items in drawers to save space.
  4. Use tape or straps to secure drawers.
  5. Use original packaging whenever possible.
  6. Wrap in bubble wrap or blanket.
  7. Bind chords and cables and label as needed.
  8. Place mattresses and box springs in a protective bag.

Bikes

  1. Disassemble whenever possible to save space.
  2. Wipe down exes oil and grease.
  3. Use plastic bags to protect other furniture when loading.

Electronics

  1. Use original packaging whenever possible.
  2. Wrap in bubble wrap or blanket.
  3. Bind chords and cables and label as needed.
  4. De-frost and dry out refrigerators before loading.
  5. Load with doors slightly open to avoid mildew.
